Woodland Wonderland Playground & Misting Pad

The Equipment
There are so many twists and turns to this ethereal playground you won’t know where to begin!  Climb the ladder to reach the top of a working windmill.  If the long, enclosed slide is too daunting for some children, there is a smaller slide halfway up the structure.  Speaking of daunting, how about climbing through a giant log.  Be careful of your footing because there are no steps to this tree house.  Better yet, climb the makeshift wood planks on the side of the structure.  Either way, the view from the top is awesome.  Whizz down the giant slide, right into an anthill.  Don’t worry, these giant, friendly bugs will assist you on your way back up the knoll.  There’s a hill to climb, plenty of spider web rope obstacles to navigate, and more slides to enjoy for the thrill seeker in you, I mean, your kids.
Toddlers can hear animal sounds in their own mini tree house flanked by a slide, bridge, and ladybugs.  When you need a break, sit at one of the picnic tables, on a giant leaf, or chill in a giant acorn.
The Misting Pad is controlled by children.  With the touch of a button, a fish and frog squirt water, a skunk perfumes the air, the water tower releases a spray, and giant pussy willow plants release mist or water.  Bathing suits are not needed as it is a gentle mist.  I noticed that two button units were yanked from the equipment so be careful of loose wires.
The Scene
Located in Walker Mill Regional Park, the new Woodland Wonderland Playground and Misting Pad is a wonderful place if you are in search of a new park.  During my family’s mid-day weekend visit, the playground was very busy.  Trash was overflowing and some parents were seen smoking near the playground equipment.  Parking is plentiful and while I did see strollers, after you enter the whimsical music made by animals, there are steps to climb before you reach the hill.  Just follow the imprinted leaves and say hello to the gnome and bunny on your way to the playground.

Restrooms
There are restrooms at the playground, but there is no changing table.  During our visit the water was scalding and there were no paper towels.  There is also a port-a-potty in the parking lot.
