Ida Lee Park
The Equipment
There are two play structures for both older and younger age groups. While not signed for ages, the structures are similar in design. A ramp leads up to the main structure with two sets of double slides, as well as a wavy, spiral, and tunnel slide. Two climbing pieces of equipment round out the structure. The toddler set has both a shorter double and curved slide, climber, and steering wheel. To the side is a small swing set with 2 bucket swings and two standard ones. The playground is set far from the road and parking lot and consist of a mulch surface. Bring along a soccer ball and a picnic basket to this large and spacious park.
The Scene
At first I was a little spooked that Ida Lee Park sits next to a cemetery. However, as soon as I entered the park, I was caught up in the beautiful rolling hills that are in Loudoun County. The landscape was great for a fall outing and I even saw children roller skating while others flew a kite among the numerous acreage of open space. Ida Lee Park consists of a recreation center, outdoor aquatic center, tennis complex, soccer fields, nature trail, library, and a playground.
The playground has a large parking lot, benches throughout, picnic tables, a separate picnic gazebo with grills, covered trash cans, and portable toilet.
Non-Leesburg residents pay a fee to use the recreation center facilities of a pool, gyms, and workout rooms. The outdoor water park is very popular during the summer months for residents and visitors alike.
