Ellanor C. Lawrence Park

The Equipment
The playground is surrounded by athletic fields.  There are two large structures, but no swings.  The first structure has two climbing walls, a zig-zag slide made for climbing, stepping stumps and a double slide.  The second structure also has two rock walls, climbing equipment, a double slide and a jungle gym.  There is a steep slide, but it is not fast.
Approaching the turnoff for the athletic complex, I noticed a small play structure up a hill behind the baseball field.  No one was on it and this is probably because of the distance it is from the parking lot.
The Scene
E.C. Lawrence is a huge park which includes a nature center, historic buildings, Cabell’s Mill, a lake, trails, an athletic complex and playground.  My family regularly visits the nature/visitor center and on our most recent visit saw a baby pool filled with turtles outside.  The park has different entrances, but the playground is located just off the highway on Sully Road.  There is a large parking lot, but no benches for people to relax while children play.  I saw several moms sitting on a blanket on the grass.  There is lots of open space for kids to play ball.
