Douglass Community Park

The Equipment
I like to think of this playground as a carnival that is set in the wilderness.  Climb on a trio of brightly colored jacks.  There are a few swing sets with a total of 2 baby swings and 6 swings for older children.
The tot set has a double sensory-based slide, steering wheel, tic-tac-toe board, wobbly suspension bridge and two climbing pieces.  A bear house consist of a small set of monkey bars, step up climber, one slide and the signature black bear whose back you can crawl up.  It sounds strange, but it’s really neat.  The treehouse structure with five slides, animal tic-tac-toe, a giant clock with hands that you can turn, suspension bridge, climbing logs, elevated climbing stumps and a hard, plastic moving ladder.  There’s also a modern merry-go-round with seats and handles giving children the option to sit or stand.
The Scene
Follow the sign for Douglas School and Community Center.  The gated playground has several play structures and a large picnic pavilion with grills.  An additional smaller shelter is semi-shaded with a few tables.  Beyond the playground are basketball courts, volleyball pit, trails, footbridges and picnic tables.  The area is diverse and while the playground is colorful, it provides little shade.
